My cloud myth

Assignment: Make up a myth (relating to Roman mythology) (also I think there were some vocabulary words we had to use)

This is a myth about how there came to be clouds.

Once there were no clouds or rain. There was no water except in the ocean. There were no rivers or lakes. There were very few plants. All the plants were near the ocean – there were large places in the middle of the country that had nothing but hot, dry dirt.

Because the areas around the ocean were the only place with water, there were too many people there, and they were so close together that there was no room to grow any food.

Priests of this pagan religion prayed in temples and sacrificed to Ceres to let them use the land for growing food.

Ceres went to Jupiter and said, "How can the people use this land to grow food, when there isn't any water there?"

Neptune made jellyfish come out of the ocean and become clouds. Doing this, they dripped water onto the land, making rivers, lakes, and streams. This made the ground wet and the people could grow food there. Now every year at winter, Neptune sends jellyfish to water the land.
