Pronunciation for English speakers
Consonants are mostly pronounced as you'd expect. Vowels are pronounced like in Spanish, Italian, Hawaiian, Japanese, etc.
- 〈q〉 is pronounced similarly to k, but farther back in the throat (like in Arabic)
- 〈'〉 is a glottal stop; 〈t'〉, 〈k'〉, 〈q'〉 are ejectives, which can be pronounced by trying to make a /t/, /k/, or /q/ sound while holding a glottal stop
- 〈ı〉 is like the oo in too, except with your mouth open
Words are stressed on the first syllable unless otherwise indicated with an accent mark (´).
