Correcting your best times

If you think you should have gotten a best time when you didn't or you got a best time when you shouldn't have, you can correct the Best Times list.

Warning: This requires you to use the Terminal. If you are not comfortable working in the Terminal, you should not do this.

Warning: This may be considered cheating. If you did not actually get the best time you said you did, you should either change it back or reset the list.

Before you change the list, you should read one or more of the topics in the See Also section to see if maybe you should have gotten the score that you got.

  1. Quit Minesweep if it's open.
  2. Open Applications:Utilities:Terminal.
  3. Type the following lines:
        defaults write nodomain.chridd.minesweeper name0 "chridd"
        defaults write nodomain.chridd.minesweeper time0 9
        defaults write nodomain.chridd.minesweeper mistakes0 0

replacing the 0's with 1's for medium difficulty and 2's for hard.
  4. Quit Terminal.
  5. Open Minesweep and check the Best Times list (Window > Best Times).
