Situations in which I currently store cookies or local storage
In the following situations, this website will store a cookie, which is sent back to the server on some or all page views:
- When you click "Save" in the Options page or the Options section of any forum game scorekeeper page, the options are stored in a combination of cookies and local storage.
- When visiting pages for my conlang Lwaitel, if you switch the font between print and cursive (the box in the upper-right) or click the button to enable or disable the fix for ruby text, this option is saved in local storage if possible (not accessible to the server), or a cookie if not.
- Public Suffix Test temporarily stores some cookies in order to test your browser's abilities, but then immediately deletes them.
- When you restore cookies and local storage using the box above, that obviously stores cookies and/or local storage.
- Some pages that are not publicly accessible or are not linked anywhere store cookies.
In the following situations, information is stored locally, but is only accessible to JavaScript and is never sent to the server.
- When you check "Remember my name for future comments" in any of my comments forms, your name, preferred pronoun, and CAPTCHA answer are saved. (This information is sent to the server, but only when you post a comment.)
- When playing certain games that I made:
- When you change any option, the options are saved in order to use those options when you play the game again.
- When you get a high score in some games, the high score is saved.
- Some games will save your progress.
- When you use a page that has "New..." and "Save..." (or "Duplicate...") buttons, things will be saved.
- During the winter holiday season, changing the message on the home page will save which message you chose.
- When you go to "Time again", the time you first visited that page (rounded) is stored.
- When you visit the esoteric language "unbroken", the last version of the page you visited is stored.
I often add new pages that use cookies and local storage, so I make no guarantees about that page being up-to-date, and it will probably change in the future.
