Dream: The last gay president (and the first gay king)

Dreamt the night ending 2023-04-16

I was in a kind-of-dark room with no windows. There was a time machine-ish thing, and the interface to the time machine was a low-resolution black-and-white touch screen which had two buttons, one of which had a black background and the other a white background. There were two, maybe three people in the room besides me.

Low-res LCD screen with two buttons, rounded with some sort of shading, labelled "Call the last gay president" and "Something else".

The machine couldn't actually travel in time; it was instead used to call people from the future into the present, and then the future that they came from could change based on what people did in the present. One of the buttons was "Call the last gay president", and then below that in smaller text it said "We know there is one because of Danny Desantez". That is, Danny Desantez was a gay president, so even if there aren't any more gay presidents in the future, there's at least one gay president, and therefore there's a last gay president.

Then somehow the past had changed, such that gay marriage was accepted before democracy became common, and there was someone who was the first gay king (in the past, but they were using this machine to talk to him). He had married another man, and so that other man became a second king. In that country in that time period, the king always had more power than the queen, but since now there were two kings, this society had decided that this meant that they had equal power, which was significant since that's the first time there were two people with equal power as head-of-state, so there was no longer one person with absolute power, and this was seen as a significant step towards democracy.

(As I was waking up, I thought Danny Desantez must be some celebrity name I'd heard of but didn't know much about, but I think maybe I was confusing Ron DeSantis with Danny DeVito.)
